Jerry Glenn Schlagheck, of Kings Mills, OH, born May 28, 1949, passed away September 9, 2018. Beloved husband of Lorraine T. Schlagheck (née Snook), dear father of Benjamin Scott Schlagheck, Erin (Schlagheck) Schreyer, Jennifer Beth Schlagheck and Sean Krabounrat, proud grandfather to Kyle Schlagheck, Evan Schreyer and Ella Schreyer.
United States Navy veteran with service during the Vietnam War, Jerry went on to become an engineer in the aerospace and medical industries. He spent close to twenty years managing the environmental laboratory at Cincinnati Electronics, was a highly sought after infrared technology consultant and was awarded multiple patents throughout his career. In the early 1980s, Jerry was an adjunct professor of Computer Science at Wilmington College. He established the computer science department for the college at Lebanon Correctional Institute (LCI.) On his own, he launched SpIRit Technologies and after sparking global interest, the company was acquired by ATI Technologies. The second phase of his career transitioned from business to include his appreciation of fine arts and creativity. He enjoyed photography, music, video production and web design. He and his team won multiple awards in the 48-Hour Film Festival. Jerry (along with his wife, Lorraine) was a season ticket holder and supporter of the Cincinnati Ballet and a sponsor of several dancers.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn “Benny” Schlagheck and Myrtle Jean Schlagheck (née Mathews.)
Visitation is Friday, September 14, 2018, 6-8pm at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home in West Chester. Funeral service following at 8pm.
