Christy "Chris" Fields

December 31, 1956 — April 4, 2017

Christy “Chris” Annette Fields, born December 31, 1956, in Lancaster, Ohio, passed away April 4, 2017 in Cincinnati, Ohio surrounded with the love of her family.

Chris is survived by her loving husband Curtis G. Fields Jr., her cherished children Curtis (Fiancé Marie Chammas) Fields III, Steven Fields, and Michelle Fields, her beloved four-legged best friend Inari, her dear brothers Rick (Suzie) Ford and Ron (Beth) Ford, as well as many dear friends.  Chris is preceded in death by her parents Clark and Anita Ford and her brother Roger (Carol) Ford.

Being the only girl amongst three older brothers, Chris was well protected and taken care of as she grew up.  The antics of these brothers also gave her many amusing stories she would years later pass along to her own children. Curtis and Chris were high school sweethearts who both attended The Ohio State University. Their marriage of thirty-six years was a lasting testament of two people's love for one another.  The strength of their bond carried them through joys and sorrows, tears and smiles; two people joined together as spouse , partner, and best friend.

Chris had a compassionate and caring soul that was shown to more than just people.  Animals were a big part of her life.  She would foster many animals and dedicate herself to caring for them so they could find their permanent home.  Chris’s latest four-legged family member, Inari, showed her the same compassion, never leaving her side.

She took great pride and pleasure in being a mother and ranked it among her proudest accomplishments. Chris and her family loved to visit Colonial Williamsburg, take annual trips to the Renaissance Festival, and travel together across the country and the globe. During her travels, she collected music boxes and teapots.  She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and decorating for the holidays. Chris will be missed and remembered for her smile, her humor, the lessons and the memories she left behind.

The family of Chris will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – Mason (400 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040) on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM with a funeral service to follow beginning at 3:00 PM.  A graveside service will take place on April 13, 2017, at Floral Hill Cemetery, in Chris’s hometown of Lancaster, beginning at 1:00 PM.
