CORRINGTON, Dale M. Beloved husband of 60 years to the late Donna June (nee Drickey) Corrington. Devoted father of Judy (Thomas) Bonds of Clifton Park, NY and Janet Werness (Dell Smith) of Minneapolis, MN. Loving grandfather of Thomas Jr. (Michelle) Bonds, Dale Robert (Kara) Bonds and Kristin (Michael Kendall) Bonds. Great-grandfather of Joseph, Jenni, Somerset, Max, Maya, Lily, Thomas and Nathan. Dear brother of the late Murlan, Lester, Glenn and Ruby. Born May 13, 1919 in Kadoka, on the edge of the Badlands in South Dakota, to Charley and Gertie Corrington. Dale was a proud Graduate of Kadoka High School and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He was employed as a mechanical design engineer with General Electric for 42 years where he was a pioneer in the development of controls and accessories for aircraft engines. During World War II, he worked on a classified project to develop a jet engine for use in the war effort. He was one of the original 12 engineers sent from GE in Lynn, MA to Evendale to begin theEvendale GE plant. He served as Manager of Controls and Accessories for TF39/CF6 engine and worked on the aircraft nuclear propulsion (ANP) project, the J79 engine which powered the F4 Phantom fighter, the TF-39 (military) and CF6 (commercial) engines for modern jumbo jets, and the international Snecma project to expand GE engines into European markets. Dale was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the age of 93. The family would like to extend a special thanks to staff at Mason Christian Village for many years of loving care and support for Dale and Donna and their family. A special note of thanks to the personal aides from Tender Hearts agency who so enhanced the last year of Dale's life. Friends may greet family from 10:30AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Mason Christian Village, Hockley Chapel, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Burial will be in the family plot in Rapid City, South Dakota. Memorial contributions may be made to Dale and Donna Corrington Presidential Scholarship Fund, South
Dakota School of Mines and Technology, 501 East Saint Joseph Street, Rapid City, SD 57701.
