David Arthur Strang December 8, 1928 – January 2, 2026 David Arthur Strang was born on December 8, 1928, in Girard, Ohio, to George and Mary Strang. Guided throughout his life by a deep and abiding faith in God, he spent most of his adult life in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he built a life defined by intellect, service, creativity, humility, and devotion to family.

David earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University. Following his graduation, he served his country in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant. He went on to enjoy a distinguished professional career at Procter & Gamble, where he was awarded multiple patents—innovations that continue to be used today in the production of Pampers diapers and Folgers coffee.

As proud as he was of his professional accomplishments, those closest to him knew that his most important roles were at home. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Margaret Strang; a loving father; and, above all, a beloved Grandpa whose quiet presence, wisdom, and steady encouragement shaped the lives of generations.

David’s faith was not only personal but active. He and Margaret were deeply committed members of Friendship United Methodist Church, where they shared years of generous service and leadership. One meaningful expression of David’s faith was his involvement in the Stephen Ministry, through which he compassionately walked alongside individuals experiencing loss, hardship, or transition—offering presence, empathy, and steadfast care.

He also found great joy in gardening, travel, and the arts. A gifted painter, David created beautiful landscapes and still lifes in both oil and watercolor. He was also a lifelong Buckeye at heart, following The Ohio State University with pride and enthusiasm—an affection that brought him joy and connection across generations of family and friends.

David is survived by his son, Randolph Strang (Martha), and daughter, Susan Gressel; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a man of deep faith, a compassionate servant, a thoughtful innovator, and a beloved Grandpa whose influence extended far beyond his immediate circle.

His life was one of purpose, faith, creativity, service, and love—and his legacy lives on through the family, church, and community he cherished.
