Douglas M. Johnson

Douglas M. Johnson, 78, of Lake County, Florida and formerly of South Lebanon, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Eustis, Florida.  Born June 24, 1944 in Breathitt County, Kentucky, the 5^th son of Eldridge and Elvira (Terry) Johnson.  Proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Homer, Joe and Donald Johnson.  He is survived by his oldest brother Abe Johnson of Mason, Ohio and sister Ola Faye Powell of Maineville, Ohio, daughters Tanya (Matt) Evans and Dana (Richard) Hammiel, both of Lebanon, Ohio and grandchildren Cody and Chloe Evans, Mikaela Johnson, and Nathan Hammiel of Lebanon, Ohio.  Doug was an accomplished auto body paint artist.  He painted the first Batmobile and many revered Doug as the best auto body paint artist in the country.  Doug was featured in automobile magazines throughout the Nation including Hot Rod and and received many awards throughout his career.  He never met a stranger and had an infectious, loving spirit, and big heart that will be missed greatly by all of those who knew him.  The family of Doug will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home - 400 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040 on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:30 am - 1:30 PM with a funeral service to follow beginning at 1:30 PM.  A procession to South Lebanon Cemetery will take place immediately following the service.  The family encourages any classic cars to be present in honor of Doug.
