Duell Lester, a 60 year resident of Kings Mills, Ohio, peacefully departed this life on April 21, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.
A proud veteran, Duell honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, embracing his duty in a time of great uncertainty with steadfast dedication. After serving in The United States Army, he went to Cumberland College where he met the love of his life Etta Mae.
Duell’s life was marked by deep devotion to his faith and family. He was a beloved husband to Etta Mae (née Stephens), whose companionship was the cornerstone of his happiness. As a father, he nurtured and guided Rhonda (Randy) Cockerham, David (Leisa) Lester, and Dennis Lester with unwavering love. His legacy lives on through his four grandchildren—Misty Cockerham, Jason Cockerham, Ryan Lester, and David Isaac Lester—and his cherished great-grandchildren: Jayla Cockerham, Arie Cockerham, Alaina Lester, Karmen Boyer, and Violet Lester. Duell also shared a close bond with his siblings, Reverend Doyle (Wanda) Lester and Joyce (Darrell) West. Duell's love extended to include his step grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Shirley Lester; his daughter-in-law Tammy; and his siblings Delmer, Lonnie, William Jr., and Wanda Rains.
Beyond his family, Duell dedicated many years to his vocation as a semi-truck driver, proudly holding membership in the Teamsters Local 100. In moments of respite, he found joy in gardening growing green beans and tomatoes—a labor of love reflecting his pride and care. He enjoyed listening to the musical group "The Inspiration" by music that inspired his faith, particularly Southern Gospel songs that resonated deeply with his spirit. There was little that Duell couldn't accomplish with his determination and skills. He was a lifetime member of Jellico Creek Baptist Church and faithfully attended Mt Zion Baptist Church in South Lebanon, Ohio.
Above all, Duell’s greatest treasure was the enduring love he shared with his wife, Etta Mae, and their loving life for 69 1/2 years and their many countless memories they created together. Their life, founded on love and trust, was richly blessed by the generations of family who will continue to honor and remember his remarkable spirit for years to come. Duell truly appreciated his grandson, Jayson for the many selfless tasks for all he did and still does for the family in caring and taking care of Duell and Etta Mae.
