Janet Foerst, a beloved resident of Mason, Ohio, departed from this world on September 23, 2024. She was a remarkable and vivacious woman, whose spirit brought joy to those fortunate enough to know her. A career that spanned three decades in education and an additional eighteen years as a dedicated Real Estate Agent, Janet's influence and passion for enriching the lives of others were evident in everything she did.
As a devoted wife to Don and a cherished mother to Lisa and Guy, Janet’s greatest pride and joy resided in her family. The love she carried for her two grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Jason) Lehnhoff and James Childs, was profound, and her heart overflowed with affection for her great-grandchildren: Jordan, Elizabeth, Haedn, Urijah, and Madeline. Janet was a loving step mom to her step son Terry Foerst from Lynchburg, Ohio. Janet was a loving aunt to Laurie (Steve) Loewenstein who was a wonderful author from Maryland, Family was the cornerstone of Janet's life, and countless heartwarming moments were woven together through laughter, shared meals, and cherished memories.
Janet's vibrant personality shone brightly in every setting, often igniting laughter and fun wherever she went. The charming tale of how she met Don at a local bar serves as a testament to her outgoing nature; she would often be found sipping her favorite Gentleman Jack while adorned in red lipstick and high heels, creating an unforgettable presence.
As an educator, Janet set an exemplary standard of class and professionalism. Her kindergarten students were not merely taught; they were inspired. Janet’s commitment to nurturing each child’s potential left an indelible mark on their lives. Each day, she donned her signature high heels—except for trips to the zoo or park—showcasing both her style and her unwavering dedication to her students. Her belief that hard work and determination could lead to success resonated deeply with everyone she encountered.
Among her many loves, none surpassed the appreciation she had for family gatherings. Janet cherished lengthy dinners with Don at The Houston Restaurant, where laughter mingled with the clinking of glasses—memories forged over shared experiences always filled with joy. Ever the passionate fan, she enjoyed watching Miami University Basketball and Football, reveling in the excitement of the game alongside her loved ones.
Janet also embraced the outdoors, where her joy for the sun was matched only by her pride in her daughter's swimming abilities. She created a wealth of beautiful memories shared with her granddaughter Leigh Ann, imparting an enduring legacy of elegance and wisdom, making her one of the most graceful educators ever to grace Sycamore.
Janet's vibrant spirit will forever reside in our hearts. We will remember her laughter, the sound of her heels echoing down the hallway, and her infectious enthusiasm for life. She has left behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations, as her family continues to celebrate the invaluable lessons she taught and the love she shared. Janet's favorite saying, “Living life to the fullest,” encapsulates the essence of who she was—a truly remarkable woman. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
