Janet Ellen Smith (Nee Flynn)

Janet Ellen Smith (nee Flynn) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Monday December 5 ^th , 2022 at the age of 75 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born June 20 ^th , 1947 to Arthur J. Flynn and Mary Ann (nee Kipp) Flynn-Sidenstick, both of whom predeceased her. She leaves behind her children; son Tom (Michelle) and daughters Karen Saylor (Kerry) & Katie Peterson (Russ). Janet was the beloved sibling of Tom (Janette), Jim (Christy) and Paula Mertes.

Janet’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and as such, continuously strived to do good for people in need. This is why she chose a career in the healthcare field. Janet was a graduate of Purcell Marian High School. She began her 40 year career as an RN from St. Francis Hospital and finished with a BSN from The University of Cincinnati. Janet’s life was revolved around caring for others and giving them comfort. She was loyal to a fault; and always saw that others needs were met before hers. The true loves of her life were her 7 grandchildren: Benjamin, Joshua, Sammy, Julia, Aidan, Trevor and Logan.

A special Mass will be celebrated for Janet at 10:00 am on Tuesday December 13 ^th at St. Dominic Church, Delhi Township. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of her life in the undercroft afterwards.
