John (Jack) E. Schenkel Jr., 84, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on January 18, 2016. Preceded in death by his parents, John E. Sr., and Alberta (nee Vandivort) Schenkel. Survivors include his loving wife, Sylvia (nee Monahan) Schenkel, sister, Marilyn Goodfriend, and brother, Robert (Donna) Schenkel. Loving and devoted father of Cindy (Bill) Schenkel Nester, Cathy (Tim) Brennan and Chris (Jody) Schenkel. Devoted Grandfather of Nicole, Natalie, Matthew, Molly, Morgan, Dylan, Jesse, Dustin, and Evan. Jack devoted his life to his wife of 62 years, their children, and grandchildren. Born on November 10, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jack graduated from Hughes High School, where he met his loving wife, Sylvia. Jack worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Crosley Radio, Avco and retired from Cincinnati Milacron after 27 years of service. Jack received three patents while working at Cincinnati Milacron. Upon retiring, Jack volunteered at Bethesda North Hospital for 18 years. He enjoyed traveling with family, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s special events and working with his trains. Visitation will be held at Shorten & Ryan Funeral Home, 400 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio, Thursday, January 21, between 4:30-6:30 pm. Funeral Services begin at 6:30 pm. Procession from Shorten & Ryan Funeral Home to gravesite service at Rose Hill Cemetery on Friday, January 22, at 10:30 am.
