Larry Hayes

Larry L. Hayes, 78, passed away suddenly on December 19, 2017 after recent heart related treatment.  Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lee; daughters Shelly (Jeff) Pyles and Carol (James) Amburgy; 5 grandchildren, Dan Pyles, Ben Muennich, Allison (Nico) Nesci, David (Tana) Pyles, Sam Pyles; great grandson Liam Nesci; brother Bill (Carolyn) Hayes; sister in-law Loween Hayes; and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Faye Hayes, brother Claire Hayes, and grandson, Cody Muennich.

A lifelong oil man, Larry started working in his father's service station in Caldwell, Ohio.  He graduated from Marietta College with a petroleum engineering degree, then worked as a sales manager for Texaco Oil, Sinclair Oil and Arco Oil.  In 1978 Larry started his own lubricant distributing business, Suburban Oil Company, which he operated until its sale in 2012.  Larry loved the outdoors, trapping and hunting as a young man, and fishing his entire life.  He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home, 400 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10:00 A.M followed by a remembrance service.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, 171 Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, Ohio.  In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Heart Association. http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/
