Lois Thanksgiving Merkle, born November 24, 1920, passed away December 28, 2016. Survived by beloved children Grace Holly (Dennis) McCartin, Nana Gail Lauer, and Kent (Debbie) Merkle, cherished grandchildren Erika McCartin, Amy McCartin, and Julie Lauer, loving great-grandchildren Katie McCartin and James Lauer, and dear brother Talmadge Kent. Preceded in death by loving husband Harry Merkle, and siblings Hudnell Kent, Stewart Kent, Elizabeth Gill, and Anna MacNiel. The family of Lois will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home-Mason (400 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040) on Monday, January 2, 2016, from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM with a funeral service to follow beginning at 6:00 PM. Donations may be made in honor of Lois to Joni and Friends (Joni and Friends International Disability Center PO Box 3333 Agoura Hills, CA 91376-3333)
