Marjorie “Midge” Hatfield (Mounts)

February 15, 1935 – July 25, 2025

Marjorie “Midge” Hatfield passed away peacefully in the early hours of July 25th at 3:08 a.m., surrounded by the love of her family. She was 90 years old.

Born in Vulcan, West Virginia, on February 15, 1935, Midge lived a life full of warmth, kindness, and quiet grace. She was a steady, loving presence to everyone who knew her.

In 1954, she married Robert “Bob” Hatfield of Pikeville, Kentucky. They shared a long, full life together before his passing in 2011. Together they raised a daughter, Leah Hatfield, born in 1974.

Although she was born Marjorie and lovingly called Midge, most people simply knew her as Nanny. Whether you were family, friend, or neighbor, she welcomed you with the same open heart and generous spirit.

Midge found joy in life’s simple things: taking care of her flowers, hearing birds sing, sharing coffee with friends, and writing letters to those she loved. She was thoughtful, gentle, and always made others feel at home.

Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren—Sydney Lane, Savannah Lou, Casey Ian, Sophia Jo, Jonse Liam, and Silver Marligrace—and her great-grandchildren, Arulea, August, and Jaiden. Her love for them was endless.

She is survived by her daughter, Leah Hatfield, and her brother, James “Buddy” Mounts, and was preceded in death by her husband Bob, and her sisters Jo and Polly.

Midge spent many years working for RCA and Avon before joining Costco, where she worked from 1999 to 2020. She was deeply loved by her family, her friends, and all who had the good fortune to know her.

Her life was full, and her love will remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
