Mary Lou Shields, born January 18, 1938 in Rushville, Indiana, passed away October 7, 2019. Loving wife of the late Claude Shields, cherished sister of brother George and William Robert King, dear grandmother of Todd (Ginger) Shields, Tiffany (Troy) Franks, and Tyson (Devin) Shields, great grandmother of Dustin, Josh (Paige), Gracie, Emma, Avery, Stella, and great-great-grandmother of Case and Josie, beloved cousin of Brent Mohr, George Glendenning. Bettie Mohr, Brenda Wilson, Susan Leonard, Allen Lasure, Russell Mohr, Adam Wilson, Alyson Bridges, Karina Mohr, Rebekah Mohr, Lukas Mohr, Isabella Wilson and Alexandra Wilson, aunt of Paula King, Todd Robert, Jennifer, Tracy, Nancy King, and adored neighbor of Lauren, Edna, Logan and Colin. Mary Lou was proud to be an active member of the Mason Community where her friendships ran deep. She was a 1956 graduate of Rushville High School before beginning to work at GM. Mary Lou was active in the American Legion Auxillary and the VFW auxiliary. She enjoyed working the Western & Southern Open and volunteered to work at the local PGA events. Giving back and showing support was something Mary Lou did often. She participated in the Hike For Hospice Charity Walk and sponsored a team for the Cancer Free Kids walk. Her kindness, sharp wit, loyalty, and selfless personality will be greatly missed by so many. The family of Mary Lou will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – Mason (400 Reading Rd., Mason, OH 45040) on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon with a funeral service to follow beginning at 12 Noon. Graveside service and burial will take place following the funeral service at Arlington East Hil Cemetery (6350 W US-52, Arlington, IN 46104) beginning at 3:30 PM.
