Obituary for Matt Connor

Matt B. Connor, 81, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Matt was born on February 6, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Harry and Marjorie (Wells) Connor. He moved from St. Louis to Long Island and eventually to Cincinnati, where he graduated from Purcell High School in 1963.

Shortly after, Matt joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he began a long and dedicated career with the City of Mason Police Department, serving his community for more than 30 years. In retirement, Matt worked with Luxottica Retail, where he was known for his teasing and jokes.

Matt loved his family and his dogs. He was happiest making weekly trips to Tractor Supply for dog cookies and bones for his best friends. His friends will fondly remember his constant good-natured ribbing.

Matt is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George (Janice) Connor. He leaves behind a loving wife, Pattie (Bonham) Connor; children, Jenna (Shane) Legg and Kevin Connor; grandsons, William, Tieler, and Gavin; brother, Chris (Annie) Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will host a visitation and luncheon on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home in Mason from 12–2 p.m., with a short service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
