With profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we announce the passing of Roger Rude of Kings Mills, Ohio, who departed this life on April 15, 2026, embraced by the loving presence of his family.
A devoted patriot, Roger honorably served in the United States Navy, a testament to his steadfast commitment to his country. Beyond his service, he was a cherished husband for over fifty-eight (58) years to his beloved wife, Ineke. A nurturing father to his children Jenn Shimpf and Jan (Alicia) Rude, Roger’s affection extended warmly to his grandchildren Josh, Aubrey, and Alaina. He was also a dear brother to Charlene (Dale) Adkins and Larry (Mickey) Rude.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Thelma Rude, as well as his siblings Billy, Tommy, Jim, and Doris.
His hands, gifted and diligent, transformed simple materials into works of art; wood became enchanting carvings, and his thoughtful designs flourished in his beautiful paintings. Roger’s profound appreciation for the natural world was vividly expressed through his captivating photography, capturing the splendors of Mother Nature. When not adventuring outdoors, he found solace in the pages of books, his love of reading a cherished pastime.
Roger’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, manifesting in his devoted service as both Deacon and Elder at his church. This spiritual foundation illuminated his days and strengthened the bonds he shared with all who knew him.
Perhaps Roger’s most enduring legacy is the loving family he nurtured—a tapestry of memories, laughter, and joy shared intimately with his wife and children, extending graciously to his grandchildren and the enduring relationships he created and nurtured with his beloved family along with his life long friendships. The love they shared stands as a testament to a life well-lived.
Though Roger will be deeply missed, his artistic creations—his paintings, photographs, and carvings—remain as lasting reminders of his remarkable spirit and the treasured moments he gave to those around him.
