Jason Sowards

January 28, 1981 — July 5, 2021

Jason Michael Sowards, 40, born January 28th, 1981 in Hamilton OH, was killed on Monday, July 5, 2021 in a motorcycle accident.  Jason lived life to the fullest.  His life was a story.  A lover of music, dancing, poetry, beer and brewing, he also loved to rock climb, cook amazing gourmet food, and had a contagious laugh.  Jason “didn’t know a stranger” and was a man of conviction, often pushing things to the limit.  As the founder of Harriet Brewing, he was a pioneer in helping bring craft beer brewing back to Minneapolis, and helped inspire the Minneapolis beer, art and music culture.
Jason is survived by his son, River with his ex-wife Tanya Sowards; best friend and partner, Christi Rowan; his mother, Julie Mueller and stepfather, Bobby Mueller of Mason, OH; his father, Rex Sowards and significant other, Kathy Rothschild; his brothers, Chris Hall (Melodi) and Max Sowards (Dana); paternal grandfather Edmond Sowards; maternal grandparents Marianne and Richard Maynard.
