Jerry Everett Hansen, age 85, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on April 20, 2020.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Michael, Christopher, and Todd (Jill); one daughter, Hazel Hansen (Alex Herrlein); two stepsons, Henderson Smith (Christine) and Joe Smith; six grandchildren, James, Carl (Jennifer), Danielle, Taylor (Hannah), Aliza, and Gunnar; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Alberto Moreno) and Mark Smith; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Trey, and Samuel; two step-great-grandchildren, Harlem Moreno and Alberto D. Moreno; and one very special granddog, Ruby. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan, mother of Michael, Christoper, and Todd.

Jerry was born in Rock Island, Illinois, on September 28, 1934. He was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he played on the Bradley Braves basketball team, including the 1953-54 NCAA championship, the first nationally televised NCAA championship game.

Jerry’s chosen career was life insurance sales. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing the occasional pick-up basketball game on the neighborhood court as well as golfing and fishing.

Jerry was an avid cook and loved bringing happiness to others through food. He thoroughly enjoyed tending to his garden, growing lots of delicious vegetables as well as lovely ornamentals, especially his beloved pussy willows.

No services will be held at this time due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jerry can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
