Kenton Schroll

January 2, 1960 — March 16, 2022

Kenton (Ken) Eugene Schroll (62), born on January 2, 1960, passed away at home in Loveland, Ohio on March 16, 2022.

Ken was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Gene and Bonnie (Werking) Schroll. Their family moved to the Cincinnati area in 1968 where Ken lived the remainder of his life. He married Amy Kitchell in April of 1987 and they welcomed their daughter, Robin, later that year.

Ken was a quiet man, but when he spoke, you listened. Ken loved his family and enjoyed cooking for them. He became an incredible pie baker and delighted in watching his friends and family try the first bite. Ken was a proud “Grumpaw” to his grandson, Lincoln, and would share photos of him with everyone he could. He was a musician, singing and playing bass guitar in several bands since high school. He was a lifetime learner, thirsty for knowledge about anything, but especially history, guns, and language which allowed him to be an excellent solver of crossword puzzles. Ken poured over maps of all sorts and loved to puzzle through complex math problems - this served him well in his long career as a surveyor with American Land Surveys. He was a steward of the environment and served as a member (and later the President) of the Izaak Walton League of America (Cincinnati Chapter) for many years and stole away to the beauty of the New River Gorge in West Virginia or the family farm in North Manchester, Indiana whenever he could.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Bonnie Schroll, and his former wife, Amy Schroll. He is survived by his daughter Robin (Nick) Wahle, grandson Lincoln Wahle; siblings Tara (Bill) Boyd and Kevin Schroll; nieces and nephews Kelly (Dustin) Miller, Brittany White, Bill Boyd, and Dana Boyd.

The family of Ken will be receiving friends for a celebration of his life from 2pm-5pm on Sunday April 3 at the Izaak Walton League of America (544 Branch Hill-Loveland Rd, Loveland, OH 45140).

In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made in his name to the Izaak Walton League to honor his passion for stewardship of the environment. (iwla.org)
