Maureen Laura Goeree
Sadly, on Wed May 19, 2021, Maureen Laura Goeree, loving Wife and Mother, passed away peacefully at home with Family and Friends at the young age of 52, following a heroic battle against cancer that spanned 10 years.
Maureen was born in 1968 in the City of York / Toronto, Canada to the loving Parents of Eric and Patricia (now deceased). Maureen’s Family, Friends, Schooling are rooted in Toronto and Canada, and an early professional career at GE was where she met, and is survived by her Husband (Bob). Together, they built a life that started with a millennial year marriage in Cold Spring KY. Maureen spread her charm, kindness and inspiration to Friends and Community as they moved to Aurora IL, Lynchburg VA, Monroe/Newtown CT and Mason OH. Maureen naturalized as a US Citizen in 2018, and is proud of her Canadian roots, dual citizenship and love of both countries.
Maureen’s spirit and pride lives through her beloved Daughter, Kristina. All of Maureen’s hopes and dreams were cultured in Kristina, and a dream of their best friends forever is eternal. Maureen is resting in peace knowing Kristina emerged as a beautiful, caring, confident and smart young adult. Maureen is also survived by her Sisters (Diane, Quebec City; and Brenda, Toronto); and her cherished and beloved Son-In-Law, Chris (Hamilton).
Maureen was an active School and Community volunteer wherever she lived, and sought to better the lives and put smiles on many. She loved to travel across the US, Canada and abroad where her journeys took her through the Caribbean Islands, across Europe, India and Hawaii.
The Family of Maureen will be receiving Friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home (400 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040) on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM; and a Service will immediately follow beginning at 6:00 PM.
