Sandra (Sandy) Fay Illig passed away peacefully at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash on April 10, 2020, just after turning 74 two weeks earlier. She was born on March 29, 1946, in Crestview, Kentucky, to Edward and Olga who preceded her in death. When she was 10 her family moved and settled in Mason. In 1967 she graduated from Bethesda Nursing School. Over the course of her 40-year career in nursing she worked at Bethesda Hospital and later as a home visitation nurse before retiring in 2007. It was after retirement that she got to explore her many interests of knitting, crocheting, needle pointing, jewelry making, cooking, and reading. She was always a kind, gentle person who never wanted anyone to make a fuss over her. Even in hospice, her nurse noted that she didn’t want to be a bother.
She is survived by her brother Ron (Ann) Illig who lives in the Chicago area. A graveside service is planned for Thursday, May 14, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, 171 Mason Montgomery Rd., Mason, Ohio, at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati in her name.
